Britt Spencer was born and raised in the foothills of Eastern Kentucky's Appalachian mountains. Living in absolute remoteness it wasn't until the age of nine that Spencer saw his first drawing. He recollects fondly,
"It was as if my reality as I knew it had imploded and I was left with the daunting responsibility to rebuild." -BS
It wasn't until this self-described "epiphany" that Spencer had ever considered drawing as something within the realms of physical possibility, let alone as a career. Nevertheless, his birth as an illustrator began.
Since his arrival into the commercial art world Britt's work has been published internationally and been recognized by the distinguished New York Society of Illustrators and the Society of Illustrators - West.
Spencer currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with his lovely wife and three children. Where he continues the task of recreating reality one ink stroke at a time.
Britt's illustrations use fanciful imagery often playing with exaggeration to add an element of joviality and an allusion to older satirical pen and ink artist. Accordingly the direction of his work often leads to political satire, wry wit, and an overall humorous tone. His favorite commissions involve any project in need of a foolish looking character.
